Standard of Service Agreement
Members of DuPage Doula Network Agree to the Following:
Quality training and skill development
Certified (or actively working toward certification) by an approved organization
Remain a member in good standing of certifying organization
Commit to ongoing professional improvement and education
Employ self-care routines to maintain good health & to prevent burnout
Peer accountability and support
Participate in mentorship program for new doulas
Submit info for yearly review including self evaluation and client survey
Attend at least 2 DDN doula enrichment meetings each year
Collaborate and cooperate regularly with local birth workers
Pay yearly dues to contribute to DDN’s goals
Positive community relationships
Maintain respectful and open communication with health care providers
Understand local hospital policies & procedures and how those relate to boundaries and doula scope of practice
Wear professional attire appropriate for birth setting, and be prepared to show ID
Create strong recommended referral list for area of service
Promote local businesses that serve growing families
Superior client care
Provide at least one prenatal & one postpartum meeting for birth doula clients
Keep client confidentiality (see Confidentiality Agreement)
Respect and be aware of differences in culture, ethnicity, family structure, traditions, language, and birth preferences
Attempt to go “above and beyond” expected level of service
Respond promptly to client texts, emails, and calls
Maintain updated resources list for clients
Integrity in business practice
Charge a fee reasonable for target area and doula’s experience level
Arrange DDN member backup (or similarly qualified care) in the event of doula unavailability
Refrain from attending planned unassisted birth
Remain within scope of practice of certifying organization
Use social media appropriately (see Social Media Agreement)
